They consist of a tungsten filament enclosed in a quartz tube. By using quartz that is highly transparent for infrared radiation the thermal output is emitted in the short-wave infrared range with minimal losses. The filler gas in the quartz vessel contains halogen additives to prevent the bulb from blackening and ensure long average life. The maximum radiation of most of the lamps is around 1,100 nm. Infrared radiation has become an important source of heat in many industries, both for production and for further processing. The main benefits of heating with HALOTHERM ® lamps are their short response time, precise controllability and high efficiency. They can be installed in machinery and production faciities, take up very little space and are easy to service. RUBYSTAR ® lamps are based on the technology of HALOTHERM ® lamps but are manufactured from rubied quartz. These lamps predominantly emit the desired thermal radiation and effectively reduce the visible component. They are preferred for applications in which visible light would be a distraction or the input energy has to be converted with the greatest efficiency into thermal radiation. They are used mainly in professional indoor and outdoor infrared heating systems and in special systems in automobile paint shops for drying paint.

In conjunction with an internal parabolic reflector which bundles the infrared energy into a high-intensity beam, these heat lamps produce a strong deep-acting effect in the materials irradiated. The main benefits of heating with SICCATHERM ® lamps are their short response time, precise controllability and high efficiency. The lamps with the ruby red bulb crown effectively reduce the visible component. They are preferred for applications in which visible light would be a distraction or the input energy has to be converted with the greatest efficiency into thermal radiation.
